Opening this week! @sparkartfair is returning for the second time this Thursday. Hosted in Vienna’s historic Marx Halle. The architecture and open layout of the fair provide each of the galleries with equal sized booths, creating a unique experience for the visitors.

SPARK Art Fair focuses on solo presentations from over 80 international galleries. The main aim is to put the artists at the centre of the fair and create a mix of emerging and established artists from around the world.

As well as the solo and gallery presentations, the fair will also include 3 curated sections: “Spark Expanded” focusing on the bulky, ephemeral or experimental, “Photography” highlighting contemporary female photographer and “The Fourth Wall”, curated by Fiona Liewehr, dedicated to multidisciplinary artists.

We had so much fun at @theotherartfair opening this week! Located in London’s Truman Brewery the fair selects artists to exhibit their own work and allows visitors to meet the creators and learn about their practices. Here are some of our favourites from the evening!

1. Brighton based artist @emilykirby_art told us about her beautiful abstracted, figurative paintings. The sense of place and dreamy colours in her paintings are inspired by time spent living in Spain and Zambia.

2. Based between the UK and Albania, we chatted with @moragcaister about her portrait practice. We especially loved her self portrait displayed on the exterior wall of her booth.

3. We had a fascinating conversation with @lisapriceart about her watercolour paints which she creates herself by foraging for natural pigments around the UK!

4. @Simon.mccheung ‘s photo works are beautiful, playful and surreal. Each of them seemed to tell a story that you could get lost in.

5. We particularly loved @jobeattie_artist’s ‘women without a voice’ series. Her practice involves sewing portraits, which are then painted and finally set in resin. So unusual and so effective!

@theotherartfair London opens this week in the famous Truman Brewery. Created in 2011, the brand hosts 8 international fairs annually in Chicago, Dallas, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne and Toronto.

Presented by Saatchi Art, TOAF differs from other art fairs in that artists, rather than galleries, present their works independently, allowing the audience to buy works directly from the artists themselves. It is a wonderful fair for young collectors and emerging artists to expand their networks.

The fair presents roughly 120 artists at each edition but alongside it, the fair offers a dynamic programme of events which, in the past, has included immersive installations and live hand-poked tattoos!

Art Fair Tokyo’s theme for 2022 is “Art, art, ART”, examining how different forms of expression can be representative of today’s environment of “constant change, both geopolitically and generationally”.

The fair continues to evolve and expand but their aim remains the same; To connect the past and present and Asia and the West. Taking place in the iconic Tokyo International Forum, the fair attracts roughly 50,000 visitors annually.
